The Early Days

Having been told by many divers who had travelled to dive in South Africa that they hadn't seen sharks whilst
scuba diving in South Africa, Craig who grew up in South Africa, decided to start a dive operation focussed on scuba diving with sharks,
offering a SHARK GUARANTEE, if you don't see sharks, ScubaAddicts will refund your diving!
Dive operators were offering dive courses & daily diving which meant qualified divers coming on holiday would have
student divers, novice divers & qualified scuba divers on the same boat. This causes problems with selecting dive sites as well
as the dive guide having to focus on divers instead of finding Sharks! We decided that we would only offer scuba diving for qualified
divers so our dives & dive sites are not restricted by having student or novice divers on our boats.
There was NO dive operator offering scuba diving packages that included every aspect that a diver would need when
travelling to South Africa and Mozambique and so ScubaAddicts was born.
In 2002 we started offering guided dive packages that included the top dive sites South Africa & Mozambique had to offer.
In 2003 after many requests, we expanded our scuba diving packages into Mozambique and added our extension packages which include
Big-5 Game Safari in the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Reserve and Great White Cage Diving at Dyer Island with ScubaAddicts taking care of all bookings
and transfers making in easy for scuba divers to see more of South Africa and Mozambique.
In 2006 ScubaAddicts started to offer Sardine Run packages and in 2007 we decided that during the Sardine Run we would move our
dive operation to Cremore Estate in Port St Johns and every year we return there for one of the most amazing adventures on the scuba diving calendar.
In 2007 we built ScubaAddicts Dive Centre & Lodge based at the Aliwal Shoal in South Africa, purchased our own dive boats and a vehicle for transfers
and we haven't looked back.
In 2009 SharkWEEK South Africa was born and over the next 6-years we offered Guaranteed Shark Diving in South Africa at the Aliwal Shoal
& Protea Banks which has offered divers some awesome shark diving experiences.
Since 2012 we have had HUGE requests for more Mozambique packages and together with Mike in Ponta Do Ouro, we have been offering guided dive packages
on selected dates to dive with the Tiger Sharks, Bull Sharks, Hammerhead Sharks, Silvertip Sharks, Grey Reef Sharks, Dusky Sharks, Java Sharks and much more.
In 2016 took an AWESOME step forward, we purchased Planet Scuba Lodge in Ponta Do Ouro, Mozambique, partnered with Mike and Leanne, built an on site dive centre
and ScubaAddicts Mozambique was born!
Having our own Dive Lodge in Ponta Do Ouro, Mozambique has made a HUGE change for us. We are getting much better shark diving and less cancelled diving days in Ponta
Do Ouro, Mozambique than when we were diving Protea Banks in South Africa.
We have also decided to no longer offer scuba diving at Protea Banks. Over the years with the global weather changes and also the decline in shark diving at Protea Banks,
we have decided that instead of having divers travel long distances and then face cancelled diving days at Protea Banks, we will offer packages that offer the same type
of diving but that are much more reliable
